Yes, it’s true! Thanks to a grant from the Maryland Department of Agriculture Talbot Humane is able to provide FREE spay/neuter services- including vaccinations- at no cost to the pet owner while funds last.
Did you know:
58% of ALL dogs entering U.S. animal shelters are pit bull or pit bull mixes?
The average cost to PROPERLY care for a litter of puppies (average litter 5 -9 puppies) is well over that which you will “make” from the sale of the puppies. This cost rises greatly if the mother is unable to nurse or there are any medical complications.
Dog flippers, hoarders and fighters scour social media and free to good home ads for animals which often end up abused and neglected.
Show your dog you love them, have them spayed or neutered!
If you are a Talbot County resident in need of spay/neuter services for your pit bull or pit bull mix type dog contact our office TODAY!
Can you even believe 2015 is almost here? Well, Talbot Humane’s Charity Running Program UNLEASHED will be running into the new year with hopes of changing more lives- human and animal!
UNLEASHED is a 6-month physical conditioning program geared at both beginners and experienced runners. More than 100,000 marathoners have used the training method that Unleashed is based on, with 98% success! The training combines running with regular walk breaks to help you build endurance. You will start out with a slow 3-mile run and gradually increase your distance each Saturday during group runs. Each week you will see your progress and really appreciate how far you’ve come! Generally, new runners start out with half marathon training. Returning runners often opt to train for a full marathon!
Often it isn’t the idea of running that deters potential team members, it is the fundraising aspect. One of our biggest doubters last year, who stressed that she was not going to raise her $500 goal actually turned out to be our biggest fundraiser of the season! We will guide you through your fundraising and make it fun and easy to reach all of your goals- physical and financial!

We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Why not choose to help the animals of Talbot Humane on #GivingTuesday as part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity?
A few ways you can make a difference for the animals on #GivingTuesday December 2nd:
Have a donation drive at your school, office or with your group of friends. You can share our wishlist in advance to encourage support.
Make a tax deductible donation to Talbot Humane which will count toward our end-of-year Matching Gift Campaign.
Share animals in need on your social media for the day in hopes of finding homes for the holidays.
Sign up to be a volunteer in 2015- start the new year off with a mission to help those in need.
Due to the overwhelming number of cats and kittens still in our care, Talbot Humane has drastically cut the fees for adoptions through the end of 2014! All felines young and old, big and small have an adoption fee of only $10! This is in an effort to help the adopters with the costs associated with a new pet- wellness visit at the vet, food, toys, beds, litter pans etc., and to help find our beloved kitties new forever homes. The application process remains the same, so apply today! The process takes 1-2 business days (often less!) Stop by today and fall in love with one of our MANY sweet cats. Visitation at our adoption center begins daily at 11AM, or stop by PetSmart of Easton to visit with those at the Cat Adoption Center inside the store.
Bark Week is going to make you chase your tail with excitement!
You know us, we cannot contain the fun to just one day! Start with our Facebook trivia contest. The first correct answer each day will win a Bark in the Park related prize ranging from event registration to BITP T-shirts and more! Then, on Friday October 17th tune into Delmarvalife on WBOC Channel 16 at 5PM to see our adoptable pets (some will be dressed ready for the costume parade!) and last minute updates on Saturday’s event.
As the sponsor for the Bark in the Park Guinness World Record Costume Parade the Hair O’ The Dog Gang is jumping right in to make Bark Week FUN and FABULOUS for everyone! October 12-17 they will be making sure you don’t forget about Bark in the Park!
Here is a reason to get that costume ready now! “The Dog” will be holding a Dog Costume Contest throughout the week. On Friday October 17th the “Wine Diva” Leeanne and Talbot Humane board member Jo Verne have challenged each other to a cook-off using Guinness! The winner is judged by YOU with your $$$! (real winners- the animals who benefit from the cash donated!)
Friday will also have a wine tasting featuring a Chardonnay & Cabernet Sauvignon from Frenchie Winery. Frenchie donates $1.00 for every bottle sold to the national ASPCA. They also have French Bulldogs on the labels and are geared towards dog lovers!
We wish to send great thanks to our major event sponsors: Hair O’ The Dog, Koons of Easton, Easton Utilities, WCEI Radio, Bay Imprint, and The Star Democrat.
We hope you choose to support Talbot Humane in our biggest fundraiser of the year. We know you are busy. We know you have many worthy organizations asking for your support. You truly make a difference for the animals or our community when you support Talbot Humane. It is very true, when we each do our part, amazing things happen.
Can you believe we will soon be celebrating our 5th Annual Bark in the Park Family Festival? While this is our biggest fundraiser of the year, it is also an amazing day of entertainment and fellowship among the animal lovers of our community. This event has become the most fun you can have with your pooch on the mid shore each October! We love that so many dogs bring out their owners to support the mission of Talbot Humane. This year we are combining our traditional fun with some new and exciting events on October 18th!
I bet many of you skimmed through the Guinness Book of World Records as a kid and thought, “how cool would it be to get in this book?” Well, here is a chance for you and your dog to make history with Talbot Humane. We want you to break out the canine costumes for this year’s Festival! We have obtained permission to attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the largest number of dogs in a costume parade. This parade will be our Dog Walk for the event and is sponsored by Hair O’ The Dog. If the current record of 337 dogs is broken, then indeed each dog is a World Record Dog- now that is something to bark about! Per Guinness rules all dogs must be healthy, be in a costume of at least two pieces, and only one dog is allowed per handler. Preregistration is $25 and is strongly encouraged. This can be done by clicking here and registering online NOWor printing the BITP Event Registration Form and submitting to Talbot Humane with your payment!
Come out for our BowWowMeow Luau! All adoption fees have been cut DRASTICALLY! Food, door prizes and MORE! Register on August 2nd for the Bark in the Park Guinness Costume Parade and receive a $5 discount on registration fees! We hope to see you between 11a-4p on August 2nd!
Each year this is an AMAZING day for the animals! In an effort to place the more than 200 animals in our care into good homes, we cut our adoption fees! We know bringing a new pet home is an expense when you need new bowls, litter pans, food, toys and a veterinary needs. Our goal, to help our adopters and the animals all at once!
ONE DAY ONLY. These discounts are non-transferable to later date. Applications must be for an animal currently available for adoption and adoption must be completed on, or application must be submitted on August 2nd.
Remember! Hand picked cats have had their adoption fees waived, and cats featured and adopted during their hand picked week go home with a starter kit full of items needed to bring home a new feline friend! Check out all of our feline friends HERE!
