Good Dogs Grill is Rounding UP for the Animals in August!

For the entire month of August, Good Dogs Grill is Rounding UP for the Animals of Talbot Humane.  Get your taste buds set friends, with a menu filled with unique ways to serve up a hot dog or burger, you could eat your way through the month and help the animals all at once!

All you have to do to support their efforts is have lunch or dinner at Good Dogs Grill on Rt 50 (you know, here in Easton in the old Tastee Freez building), and tell the cashier to round up for the animals! It truly is just that simple.

We are thrilled to partner with yet another local business in our area. Just one more example of the community working together to make a difference for the animals and citizens in our area.

Talbot Humane to Benefit from Whitten Insurance’s “Quote for a Cause” Program

Nationwide really is on OUR side!

For a limited time, Whitten Insurance, Nationwide of Easton is holding their “Quote for a Cause”  program to benefit Talbot Humane.  “It is our company’s way of giving back to the community,” shares Melissa Creighton, Account Manager with Whitten Insurance. “We are thrilled to support Talbot Humane with this program.”

All you have to do to help the animals, is call Whitten Insurance for a quote on vehicle or homeowners insurance.  Customers must share that you are calling to “Quote for a Cause” to Talbot Humane in order that we receive the donation.  You are under no obligation to commit to the quotes given, but by giving Whitten Insurance the opportunity to help you, they will donate $10 per quote to Talbot Humane.  “We at Talbot Humane think this is a winning situation for everyone,” states Patty Quimby, Talbot Humane’s executive director. “This is just one more example of our local community stepping up to help, and we love it!”
Quote for a Cause will be available through October 31, 2013.  Whitten Insurance will have a booth at Bark in the Park on October 19th to offer you the chance to save money on your insurance and donate to Talbot Humane all at once. For more information or to receive a quote please call Melissa Creighton at (410)924-0976.

Cinco De CAT-O at Talbot Humane

As of May 1, 2013 there were 86 felines in our care.  Most of these are wonderful adult cats looking for a loving home.  As cat lovers know, felines, when well cared for and living indoors can live to upwards of 15-20 years!  So a 5 yr old cat still has so much to give.  In an effort to place our adults before kittens season kicks into high gear we are offering all cats 5 years and older at the bargain adoption fee of only $5 for a limited time.  All interested parties must still submit an adoption application and follow the regular process.

Remember, all of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, vaccinated- including the rabies vaccine, FeLV/FIV tested, wormed, receive flea and tick treatment and microchipped.  Stop by and meet our cats Monday – Saturday after 11AM.  We are sure you will fall in love!  To see some of the many cats available at Talbot Humane, simply click HERE.

Live your life UNLEASHED- Get ready for St. Michaels and Beyond

May 18th may seem far away, but, it will be here before we know it!  What’s May 18th you ask?  It’s the 2nd Annual St. Michaels Running Festival of course!  This year, not only has Talbot Humane created a fundraising team  to receive a portion of the registration fees, but, we will be training a new group of friends to get UNLEASHED!  Couch potato to seasoned runner- we want you ALL!

For novice runners and first-time marathoners, UNLEASHED offers the popular run:walk training method of just two 30-45 minute runs on your own during the week and one long group run on Saturday mornings that gradually builds, mile by mile, to the full racing distance. All run:walk training is non-competitive, supportive and done at your pace!

Walkers come out and receive some one on one training to build your endurance, and get you to your mileage goal- you know, walkers can join the 5K or 10K events too!

For repeat marathoners and experienced runners, we offer all the amenities of the run:walk program, plus coaching support to help you improve your personal record.

Your commitment for training is the cost of the team shirt (412) and a “Get or Give” of $100 in fundraising for Talbot Humane.  This is a DEAL for the many weeks of training and support leading up to the festival.  Not to mention the team building and new friendships you will undoubtedly make.

For the Training Schedule for the St Michaels Running Festival, please click HERE! Just want to see what it is all about?  Come out to Idlewild Park by the tennis courts on Saturday March 23rd at 7a.  (or any Saturday following!) We would love to have you join us for a “trial run”- we just know you will be hooked!

For more information on how to LIVE UNLEASHED with Talbot Humane, email us at info@talbothumane.org or call (410)822-0107.

St. Michaels Running Festival and Talbot Humane Partner!

We are excited to let you know that Talbot Humane has become a non-profit partner of the St. Michaels Running Festival – which will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2013.  In partnering with this event, we have a wonderful opportunity to raise money and awareness for our cause.  Here is how the partnership works:

Westphal Jewelers Believes “Charity Begins at Home!”

Once again our friends at Westphal Jewelers at 19 North Harrison St. are making a difference for the animals of Talbot Humane.  When you make your purchase at their store, share with them that Talbot Humane is your charity of choice- they will then donate 10% of your sale to our organization.  “We are happy with the generous response to our previous fundraising efforts,” says Bill Westphal.  “Giving back to the community has always been a cornerstone of our business.  We have so many worthy organizations in our area that we decided to invite everyone to select their own beneficiaries.”

“The Westphals have always be so generous to Talbot Humane, we are thrilled to have them continue to give back to so many organizations in our community,” states Executive Director Patty Quimby.

We at Talbot Humane are so thankful for the Westphal family and other like them in our community who continue to give back.  As you can see, shopping local helps more than just the store owners in our area, it makes a difference for the animals and other non-profit organizations in our community.   For more information on Westphal Jewelers please visit their website:  http://www.westphaljewelers.com/

  • Saturday & Sunday December 15 &16 Photos with Santa Paws at the Easton PetSmart. Each year PetSmart donates to local shelters by their Photo with Santa Paws program.  This year the weekend for Talbot Humane to benefit is December 15th & 16th!  We will be there from 11a-4p, ready to help you make a holiday memory with your pet!  The photos cost $10, and Talbot Humane will receive $5 from each photo sold on these days.  These make great gifts for family and friends!  We love that it has become a tradition for so many of our adopters- a great way to give back to Talbot Humane.  We hope to see you!
  • Saturday December 22nd The 4th Annual Cookie Walk and Pawsatively Fab Boutique at the Easton Farmer’s Market starts at 8a.  This event has become quite a sensation!  Thanks to Talbot Humane volunteer Jen Frye’s idea, this event has raised a ton of cash for the critters in our care!  Our volunteers bake like mad to help the animals, and help take some of the stress off you during the holiday season!  The idea, we have hundreds of homemade cookies lined up.  You buy your box, and we fill it with your choice of delish treats!  These make great gifts, use them instead of baking away yourself, or just have them on hand when friends drop by.  Every cent goes to the care of the animals.  Our boutique will also be open for those last minute gifts for the pets and pet lovers in your life.  Interested in helping bake?  email our volunteer coordinator Susan Langfitt today and she will add you to the list!
  • Tuesday December 25th Santa Paws Delivers!  From 7a-9a Talbot Humane Elves will be delivering adopted pets to homes!  Click here for more details!

As you can see, there is a lot going on at Talbot Humane in the coming weeks.  We hope you join in the fun.  We appreciate you for all you do to help the animals in our care, and in the community.

Thank you for another successful Bark in the Park!

What a fabulous day we had for the animals- all thanks to you!  The support of our community is the reason our open admission shelter is able to continue our work of placing every treatable and adoptable pet into new forever homes.  Because of your generosity and participation in this year’s Bark in the Park Festival, over $41,000 was raised for the animals!
