Animal Control Officer-1
Talbot Humane is hiring for the position of Animal Control Officer-1 for our contracted role as the Talbot County Animal Control Authority.
This position is responsible to enforce county animal control ordinances, state anti-cruelty laws, respond to complaints of animal control problems including stray, noisy or dangerous animals and complaints of cruelty and neglect on domestic animals.
Employees in this position require knowledge of animal control ordinances, the ability to investigate complaints, to write clear concise and objective reports for supervisory review and for evidence in court cases and Animal Control Board hearings. General guidelines exist such as, Animal Control Ordinances, standard operating procedures and policies. Judgment is used in negotiating with the public in hostile situations regarding the handling and treatment of animals.
Potential applicants must possess a clear driving record, valid drivers license, clear criminal background check, have knowledge of multiple species of animals, have the ability to lift, carry and pull. Comfortable handling different species of animals. Be able to work weekends and holidays.

Adoption Coordinator- Start Date: on or around May 4, 2021
Responsible for assisting the public on adoption related concerns, use the policies and procedures of Talbot Humane to find appropriate homes for our adoptable animals, work with staff and volunteers to market and promote adoption and responsible pet ownership. Role requires handling of all animals, large and small, assisting the public, clerical duties, events and promotion. Potential candidates must have proven experience in customer service, multi tasking a must, be personable and enjoy working with the public. This role is very social and requires the candidate to engage with the public regularly. Ideally this position would start in early May to work with our current Adoption Coordinator for several weeks prior to retirement.
