Local Production of “Annie” to Help the Animals of Talbot Humane

annieEASTON MIDDLE SCHOOL PRESENTS HIT BROADWAY MUSICAL ANNIE

Under the direction of Richard A. Vitanovec, Easton Middle School proudly presents the Broadway musical Annie. Show dates are January 23, 24, 30, and 31 at 7:00 pm and January 25 at 2:00 pm at the Easton High School Auditorium. This is the 10th anniversary of Vitanovec’s first musical at Easton Middle School, which was Annie back in 2004. This production involves over 50 students from 3rd grade through 12th grade, as well as some Easton Middle School faculty.

To give his students a unique experience, Vitanovec was also able to contact Bill Berloni, animal trainer for Broadway and Hollywood, and he will be bringing one of his dogs, Mikey, to play “Sandy” in the production. Mikey played “Sandy” in the 30th Anniversary National Tour of Annie and was the “Sandy” understudy on Broadway. Berloni will be coming with Mikey to work with the cast. He has trained ALL of the “Sandys” on Broadway as well as the Sandy in the newest movie of Annie that came out this past December. The students and Vitanovec are very excited about this once in a lifetime opportunity.

This is a big-hearted musical for the whole family. Come see Annie January 23, 24, 30 and 31 at 7:00 pm and January 25 at 2:00 pm at Easton High School Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children/students. Advance tickets can be purchased at Easton Middle School, Crackerjacks, Little Rascals, Reeser’s Pharmacy, and Rise Up Coffee Roasters on Dover Street.

“SANDY’S PANTRY”- Bring 4+ cans of cat/dog food or a bag of cat/dog food to the show and you will be entered in a raffle for a special prize. The cat and dog food will be donated to Talbot Humane to help all the “Sandys” that find their way there.

Pit bull spay & neuter – FOR FREE!

PittiePupsGirlsYes, it’s true!  Thanks to a grant from the Maryland Department of Agriculture Talbot Humane is able to provide FREE spay/neuter services- including vaccinations- at no cost to the pet owner while funds last.

Did you know:
  • 58% of ALL dogs entering U.S. animal shelters are pit bull or pit bull mixes?
  • The average cost to PROPERLY care for a litter of puppies (average litter 5 -9 puppies) is well over that which you will “make” from the sale of the puppies.  This cost rises greatly if the mother is unable to nurse or there are any medical complications.
  • Dog flippers, hoarders and fighters scour social media and free to good home ads for animals which often end up abused and neglected.
Show your dog you love them, have them spayed or neutered!
If you are a Talbot County resident in need of spay/neuter services for your pit bull or pit bull mix type dog contact our office TODAY!

UNLEASHED is Taking on 2015!

original unleashedCan you even believe 2015 is almost here?  Well, Talbot Humane’s Charity Running Program UNLEASHED will be running into the new year with hopes of changing more lives- human and animal!

UNLEASHED is a 6-month physical conditioning program geared at both beginners and experienced runners. More than 100,000 marathoners have used the training method that Unleashed is based on, with 98% success!  The training combines running with regular walk breaks to help you build endurance.  You will start out with a slow 3-mile run and gradually increase your distance each Saturday during group runs.  Each week you will see your progress and really appreciate how far you’ve come!  Generally, new runners start out with half marathon training.  Returning runners often opt to train for a full marathon!

Often it isn’t the idea of running that deters potential team members, it is the fundraising aspect.  One of our biggest doubters last year, who stressed that she was not going to raise her $500 goal actually turned out to be our biggest fundraiser of the season!  We will guide you through your fundraising and make it fun and easy to reach all of your goals- physical and financial!

For more information on UNLEASHED and the perks you gain from joining our team, visit us HERE.

Going for Guinness! Talbot Humane’s Bark in the Park is shooting for the stars!

Bark in the Park 2012Can you believe we will soon be celebrating our 5th Annual Bark in the Park Family Festival? While this is our biggest fundraiser of the year, it is also an amazing day of entertainment and fellowship among the animal lovers of our community. This event has become the most fun you can have with your pooch on the mid shore each October! We love that so many dogs bring out their owners to support the mission of Talbot Humane. This year we are combining our traditional fun with some new and exciting events on October 18th!

I bet many of you skimmed through the Guinness Book of World Records as a kid and thought, “how cool would it be to get in this book?” Well, here is a chance for you and your dog to make history with Talbot Humane. We want you to break out the canine costumes for this year’s Festival! We have obtained permission to attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the largest number of dogs in a costume parade. This parade will be our Dog Walk for the event and is sponsored by Hair O’ The Dog. If the current record of 337 dogs is broken, then indeed each dog is a World Record Dog- now that is something to bark about! Per Guinness rules all dogs must be healthy, be in a costume of at least two pieces, and only one dog is allowed per handler. Preregistration is $25 and is strongly encouraged. This can be done by clicking here and registering online NOW or printing the BITP Event Registration Form and submitting to Talbot Humane with your payment!
