Some puppies get the full puppyhood experience with a mom to teach manners and siblings to teach boundaries, bite inhibition, and social skills. This little guy got none of that.

Stroopwafel was born prematurely here at the shelter. He was the only surviving puppy in his litter after staff stepped in to tube feed and later bottle feed him around the clock when his mother could no longer care for the babies. He is alive because people fought hard for him from day one. Now he needs the next phase of that commitment.

Because he grew up without littermates or normal puppy socialization, we know he faces challenges ahead. He is smart, pushy, confident, demanding, and used to being the center of the universe. He loves cuddling and attention, but he already shows the bossy behavior common in tough, high-drive breeds raised without canine role models.

We are not looking for a “first dog” home. We are looking for a home prepared to guide him through structure, training, boundaries, and proper social development from the start.

He must go to a home with another stable dog, ideally an adult female who will help teach him appropriate dog behavior. A required training contract is included with adoption, and we already have a trainer ready to work closely with both him and his future family.

This puppy deserves honesty, not sugarcoating. He has the potential to grow into an incredible companion in the right hands. He also has the potential to become difficult without proper guidance.
