Hair O’ The Dog Chili Cook-Off

Hair o the dog“The Dog” is at it again! The Kool Kats at Hair O’ The Dog Wine & Spirits annual Chili Cook-Off is once again, going to the dogs (and cats too!) Friday January 31st from 5-7PM you will have the chance to taste not 3 but 8 delish chili dishes paired with wine or beer. You see, this year it’s a battle of the Dogs- Talbot Humane staff verses “The Dog” staff in an effort to raise funds for the animals! You vote with your dollars to see which team wins! The generous folks at HOTD are also donating a 10% of the sale of featured wine and beer to Talbot Humane during this event. These folks really are AMAZING friends to the animals!

The funds we raise from this event will help us purchase a new washer and dryer at Talbot Humane. Only 2 weeks into the new year our washing machine died- for the last time. The dryer has also been on it’s last tumble for some dog laundrytime and staff has been nursing the machine along. It is quite an expense- for purchase, removal of the old machines and installation of the new ones we are looking at an unexpected expense of $10,000- so you can see every dollar makes a difference!

Not into chili so much? Well, you will still want to stop by and meet our pets for adoption, enter your name in a raffle drawing and just join in the fun! Questions? Contact us today! We just KNOW it’s gonna be fun for everyone, and the big winners- the animals thanks to the generosity of Hair O’ the Dog and YOU!

Matching Gifts for the Animals- Will Double Your Donation Today!

matching gift to the animals Talbot Humane has just received an amazing gift to the animals- a MATCHING donation up to $12,500 through December 31, 2013! Thanks to a generous donor, our ability to make a difference for the animals of our community has doubled. Beginning today, December 11, 2013, any donation received which states “matching gift” in the memo will be counted toward this total!

Our goal for this year’s holiday and end of year giving campaign is to raise $50,000. The money raised goes directly to keeping the doors of our open admission shelter open in 2014. When you give local, you see your money used in your community. Saving the lives of animals on your street. Spaying and neutering animals in your neighborhood. Filling the bellies of animals in your town. This is what your donation does everyday at Talbot Humane.

For more information on how you can make a difference for the animals contact our office today at (410) 822-0107 or info@talbothumane.org.

Hair O’ the Dog- Wine Making a Difference for the Animals

hair of the dogLocal friends know, Hair O’ The Dog in Easton is always doing something to give back to the community.  As major supporters of our efforts at Talbot Humane they once again are selling Talbot Humane wine to help the animals! “The Petro’s are great friends to the animals- we are blessed to have Joe as a volunteer board member and supporter at Talbot Humane,” shares Patty Quimby, Talbot Humane Executive Director.  The wines, reasonably priced at $13.49 for “Top Dogs” give $1 per bottle back to the animals.

  • Pinot Grigio – A full bodied Pinot Grigio with lots of pizazz and tropical fruit notes. Great for that holiday party.
  • Chardonnay – A charming sipper, this Chardonnay is loaded with notes of vanilla and butter. Perfect for that New Year’s Eve lobster dinner.
  • Red Blend – Smooth Bordeaux style red blend from California with rich black fruit with well integrated tannins. Just the ticket for that leg of lamb or pork roast for Christmas dinner.
  • Cabernet Sauvignon – A big & bold Cabernet Sauvignon from California that has complex fruit notes with hints of cocoa. Having prime rib roast for holiday dinner then look no further.

For more information or to purchase these wines, visit Hair O’ The Dog at 219 Marlboro Avenue, Easton across from the Kohls parking lot.

Fred’s Fight Memorial Fund to Help Feed the Animals of Talbot Humane

Wilson family donation

Pictured here with Patty Quimby, Executive Director of Talbot Humane are Georgianna Hock, Hannah Hock, Emily Hock, Sydney Wilson, and Parker Wilson.

Fred Wilson was a very special man.  I feel blessed to have had the pleasure of knowing him.  His gentle nature and smile were always present. This was so clear in his love for animals and his grandchildren.  Mr. Fred lost his battle with cancer in August of this year, but, his love for animals will now live on thanks to the generosity of his family.

The granddaughters of Frederick Wilson presented me with a donation in memory of their grandfather to kick off a “Fred’s Fight” Memorial Fund. When their grandmother Rebecca Wilson asked what they would like the money to do, they all said “feed the homeless animals.”  Their hope- for friends of Mr. Fred’s and friends to the animals to make donations to ensure the animals sheltered at Talbot Humane are always fed, warm and cared for.

We thank the Wilson Family for there support, and know their generosity and love will make a lasting difference in the lives of the animals of Talbot Humane.

For the animals,

Patty Quimby
