Bark to School: Adoption Event


Talbot Humane is excited to announce our summer Adoption Event! This year’s theme: Bark to School is sure to help bring our young community into the shelter. We’re proud to be teaming up with other local rescues, including Hill Hounds Rescue and Animal Sanctuary, Eastern Shore Rabbit Rescue, Caroline County Humane Society, Baywater Animal Rescue, and Dorchester County Dog Control.

August 5th from 11 AM to 2 PM!

Bark to School is a free, family entertainment and community service event featuring local rescues and humane societies, community resources, food trucks, kid’s activities, and more!

 


Register Now

While our event is FREE to attend, all adoption policies are still in place for animals. Please visit our site to apply now. Once approved, applications are good for up to six months, so you’ll be ready to go the day of the event! You can apply HERE.

For same day adoptions please bring the following paperwork with you:

  • A copy of your current lease with pet policy if you rent
  • Up-to-date rabies vaccination records for all pets currently in the home
  • Driver’s license or State Issued ID

We highly encourage you to pre-apply, as same day adoptions will be processed AFTER preapproved applications.

This process is for Talbot Humane animals ONLY. Each rescue or humane society will have their own adoption process.

If you are in need of supplies for the upcoming school year, stop by our event to grab your FREE bag of supplies.


$1 Microchips will be available during the event!

We highly encourage you to call ahead and schedule an appointment for that day and to prefill out any needed paperwork. Microchips are through 24 PetWatch and will be registered for you. Walk-ins are available during the event.

All dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier. 


Our Pet Pantry will be open and available throughout the event. If you are in need of food for your animals, please let us know at the event and a staff member will assist you.

If you would like to help our Pet Pantry services, please bring a can or small bag of cat or dog food to donate! We couldn’t do what we do without our humane community.

Talbot Humane’s Inaugural Holiday Ornament Contest

Talbot Humane is excited to announce the

Inaugural Holiday Ornament Contest

Details:
  • This contest is open to all ages.
  • The ornaments will have two sides, both designed by the artist.
  • While submissions may be in any size, please keep in mind the ornament is a 3” circle.  
    • Detail from larger and/or square/rectangular submissions may be lost during reduction and transfer.
  • The front side should depict the artists version of “The spirit of Christmas at Talbot Humane.” 
  • The back side will include Talbot Humane, the year, and the artist’s name.
Deadlines:
  • The deadline for artists to submit their proposal is July 14th.
  • The proposal can be as simple as a sketch with a descriptive sentence or as detailed as desired.
  • The Talbot Humane Board of Directors will judge all submissions and announce the winner by July 21st.
  • The finished project will be due by August 23rd.
  • Talbot Humane will issue a press release with the contest winner’s name, a one paragraph bio, and a thumbnail of the winning image.

Weis Market “Round Up” for Talbot Humane

For the Month of May when you Round Up at Weis in Easton Talbot Humane wins! For the past several years Weis of Easton has been able to donate several thousand dollars to the animals through this program. A few pennies to you or me means A LOT to the animals of our community! 

Oxford Picket Fences 2023

The wonderful town of Oxford Maryland is once again holding their “Picket Fences” Auction. Each year local artists paint a picket fence in support of local non-profits! This year our artist is once again Mark Montoya! He created a true Eastern Shore scene called “All About Maryland”. This 2-sided beauty is on display at the Robert Morris Inn! Lunch for the Pets! June 2nd

Join us for lunch on Friday June 2nd to help the animals of Talbot Humane! $10 for sandwich, chips and a drink. Bake sale that day too! Pre-orders are welcome. We will deliver to local businesses who order 10 or more. UNLEASHED Runs St. Michaels this Spring!

UNLEASHED for Talbot Humane is back and running local this Spring! UNLEASHED is in it’s 11th year of raising funds for the pets and programs served by Talbot Humane. This Spring we are running the St. Michaels Running Festival on May 20th. We are excited to invite the community- weekend warriors to confirmed couch potatoes to join us in taking ordinary people and helping them do extraordinary things for themselves and the animals. 

Don’t let the idea of having never run, or having to raise funds stop you from coming out. We promise- you will be able to do both! We help you every step of the way with both training and fundraising. Remember, you can do anything you put your heart and mind to!

  • Saturday February 18th at 11A: Informational Meeting at Talbot Humane (cottage next door) 
  • Saturday February 25th at 7A: First Day of Training- Rails to Trails parking lot next to TC Board of Education Building
  • Saturday March 25th: Last day to join

Homes For the Holidays at Talbot Humane

For the month of December we are working our tails off to clear the shelter of our pets in need of loving homes!
Dogs: 1/2 adoption fee. Specific dogs for adoption may have no adoption fee!
Felines: NO adoption fee
Small Mammals: NO adoption fee

 

Visit our pets for adoption Monday- Saturday 11A-close, we also have cats at PetSmart in Easton, MD.  Get a head start on the application and submit electronically today! ADOPTION APPLICATION/

Holiday Photos for Cause

 

Steve Lingeman, local photographer and author of the Talbot People Project is helping the animals served by Talbot Humane this holiday season. Steve is looking to add some more “Talbot People” to his project and help the animals at once!

Steve will be booking photo shoots for people and pets.

Cost is $50 donation per shoot.

  • Each participant will receive
  • 3  – 5″x7″ print
  • 1 – 8″ x 10″ print
  • Digital copies emailed or text to you

Steve will provide Santa Hats or Reindeer antlers- fun things! 

Who knows, your story and photo may make it into “Talbot People” (with your permission of course!)
