DUKE
Sorry that I haven't e-mailed earlier but Duke has kept me very
busy. I have been walking him about three times a day and playing
ball in the yard afterwards. He is getting more comfortable now. I
am going to get one of those collars to curb the pulling. He is just
so happy to see things and people that I think it is a good idea
especially while walking him with the stroller. I must say he has
adjusted very well to walking with the stroller. He loves the baby
so very much. Every time the baby fusses he goes to check on him and
he even wakes me up in the morning when the baby wakes up. I think
that that is so cool.
It will take Duke about a month to settle down. He will be my
perfect dog and I am so grateful that you opened the door to let us
bring him into our lives. Thanks for everything. I hope all is well.
I will send another update in a few months if you would like.
Warmly, Heather O.

HERMAN
Today is a “sappy” day for all who have loved, cared for and simply
met “Herman”. He just left the shelter for his new home!
When he arrived at the shelter in May he
was very sick. Flea and tick infested, lethargic and a full blown
case of heartworms he really pulled at our staff’s heart strings. He
became a resident of our office while going through treatment
needing round the clock care which our staff provided without
question.
Once recovered he just never left! We are all very happy that he has
a new beginning with a great family, even if it hurts our hearts a
little to let him go. Thank you to all of the volunteers and
supporters: This is truly what it is all about!

PUDDIN
Puddin’ had an active night exploring and hopping between Eric, my
son Kelly and myself during dinner, watching TV and right up to
bedtime. He is truly a “love junkie”!!!!.
I picked my son up from soccer tryouts after dropping Eric and
Puddin’ off at home to get settled with food and litter box. Kelly
was feeling discouraged with the soccer tryouts. He knew we’ve been
searching for a cat for the past week. I told him
we were going to put the cat search on
hold for the meantime as I was getting overwhelmed with the decision
and choices. Of course, I was bursting at the seams anticipating the
look on Kelly’s face when he walked into the house. Puddin’ was
sitting around the kitchen corner – Kelly didn’t see him at first.
He rounded the corner, Puddin’ just sat and looked right up at him.
Needless to say, Kelly was really surprised.
He must have stayed up all night – he’s been sleeping under our bed
all morning – I think he probably spent a lot of time under a bed as
a favorite sleeping spot.
We truly feel fortunate meeting you and finding Puddin’! If we had
waited until the weekend, he might have been gone. I felt really bad
for the man that came to get him – I hope they are happy with the
cat they chose, as he obviously knew Puddin’ is truly a special
boy!!!
Fondly, Eric & Christine

SANOMA
It's been just about a year since we adopted Sanoma from TCHS. She
is a wonderful, loyal dog who loves car rides, swimming, people and
all animals. She is very smart as well. She loves to run alongside
the bicycle, and has lots of energy but will calm down when we need
her to. Thank you for helping us find the perfect dog! Attached is a
picture after she had been swimming in the lake!
Sincerely, Lindsey and Sean S.
BUDDY
Just want to let you know that the cat we adopted at the end of May
has worked out well. His name at the shelter was Mansford, but we
call him Buddy because he is so like our 17-year-old buff tabby that
we lost. He hid for a few days, but has become quite the cuddler and
lover. He hissed and puffed up at our sweet lovable golden
retriever, Ginger, but he is getting so he's not as afraid of her as
time goes by. I think our Ginger feels as if Buddy has come back to
life.
Our experience with the Talbot County shelter was great, and I would
recommend people adopting from you guys any day. We're going to try
to take Buddy on a 4-hour car ride to the Outer Banks to our summer
cottage. I hope he and Ginger tolerate each other on the ride down!
This shall be interesting!
Just wanted to let you know how things are going with the new member
of our family and to let you know he has a wonderful home with us.
Fondly, the Reeds, Salisbury

HUNTER
New family! Volunteer Trish Roberts and her husband decide Hunter
is the perfect addition to their family!
DOLCE
Dolce is very frisky and
loves to go outside and play. Sometimes she gets into things she
should not, but she is learning to mind her manners. She loves
treats and
feet and loves to have us around, and we love to have
her around!
I will keep you updated on her progress.

BEAR BEAR
Bear Bear is doing super. He
has made himself at home and marked every inch of his
territory outside. He even learned how to let himself
out of the storm door if the back door is not shut. He loved the back yard and
stood in amazement when I let him off his leash when we got
home. Only one cat is hiding from him, and Lucy made friends
immediately. They like having barking contests and playing
in the backyard.
Thank you so much. He is a gem. Lisa F.
